Anthropic limits Claude Code game replication to protect indie titles from AI ripoffs and front-running

Anthropic has added new rules to Claude Code's system prompt that strictly forbid the model from helping recreate specific existing games, aiming to curb rampant AI-driven reverse engineering and copycat front-running. Recently, opportunists have used public demo videos alone to prompt the model into stitching together functional gameplay code, preempting original titles on platforms like Steam and hijacking their momentum, which has forced several indie development teams to cancel public playtests or switch to lottery-based access.
