OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Images 2.6 and Two Image API Models

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Images 2.6 alongside two developer-facing API models, GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst, adding direct generation of animated GIFs and SVG outputs. The new release significantly enhances reference-based consistent editing, enabling outfit changes, background replacements, and localized inpainting via visual selection while preserving subject identity. According to OpenAI, generation speed has improved by around 50%, and developers can use a "complexity" parameter to adjust the model's pre-generation planning effort.
