Hands-on with Apple Intelligence on China-market iPhones: How on-device models collaborate with Qwen

Apple Intelligence has rolled out for testing to mainland China users via the iOS developer beta, powered under the hood by Apple's proprietary on-device models alongside Alibaba's cloud-based Qwen models. Hands-on testing shows that on-device features such as Clean Up and real-time translation respond swiftly, while complex, long-horizon tasks prompt a Siri pop-up to route requests to Qwen. For Visual Intelligence, search integrations are available not only for Qwen and Baidu, but also for third-party apps like Dewu. This initial release focuses primarily on foundational experience improvements, with deeper system scheduling and third-party ecosystem integration still to be refined.
