OpenRing: An Open-Source, Self-Hosted Voice AI Agent Platform Launched
OpenRing – Open-source, self-hosted voice AI agent platform (Vapi alternative)
AI guide
Developer elifalanrocha has open-sourced OpenRing, a voice AI agent platform fully compatible with Vapi's API format without charging platform per-minute fees. Users can deploy it locally or on a private server via a single `npx openring` command, directly connecting to upstream providers such as Deepgram, OpenAI, and Twilio using their own API keys, while keeping all audio recordings and transcripts entirely local.
Why it matters
The project offers an open-source, self-hosted alternative compatible with commercial platform protocols, helping reduce the operational costs of voice agents while ensuring data privacy.
