Tencent Hunyuan Releases Hyra 2.0: Building Reusable Tools and Models for Scientific Research Automation

Tencent Hunyuan has introduced Hyra 2.0, an agentic system for scientific research automation that shifts the R&D paradigm from mere problem-solving to having general-purpose agents develop and upgrade scientific models, research workflows, and software tools. The system adopts a three-tier architecture—Overall, Mission, and Worker—and incorporates persistent queues, a Research Board, and a shared knowledge base to support multi-week, long-horizon research.
The system demonstrates a shift from having agents simply grind through benchmark problems to autonomously developing tools and models, providing a reference paradigm for scientific research automation and long-horizon agent engineering.
