Fujifilm has announced a major expansion of its magnetic tape manufacturing capacity to meet surging demand from hyperscalers and data center operators for low-cost backup of massive AI datasets. In addition to a low per-unit storage cost, tape media can easily be disconnected from networks and stored off-site, providing a critical last line of defense for vital data through an air-gapped physical barrier.
